Sporting KC v FC Dallas MLS
Sporting KC was founded in 1995 as one of the ten charter clubs of Major League Soccer (MLS).
FC Dallas was also one of the original ten MLS clubs, originally named the Dallas Burn before rebranding in 2004.
The two teams have a rivalry known as the "Lone Star Series," which dates back to 1996 and is based on the geographical proximity of the two clubs.
Sporting KC has won the MLS Cup twice, in 2000 and 2013, while FC Dallas has yet to win the title.
FC Dallas' home stadium, Toyota Stadium, is located in Frisco, Texas, while Sporting KC's home stadium, Children's Mercy Park, is located in Kansas City, Kansas.
Both teams have had success in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, with Sporting KC winning the tournament four times and FC Dallas winning it once.
